Bibo Runge

Premium alcohol-free Riesling from the Rheingau — the “Deserteur” range.

The House

Rheingau Riesling, alcohol-free

With “Deserteur”, Weingut Bibo Runge brings premium Riesling to the bottle — alcohol-free.

Weingut Bibo Runge lies around Hallgarten in the Rheingau. Since 2017 it has been run by Monika Eichner and Markus Bonsels — Markus left a 25-year corporate career to study viticulture and oenology.

“Deserteur” is the alcohol-free range: 100% Riesling from old Hallgarten sites, gently de-alcoholised and refined with a small Bibo Runge dosage — plus Sparkling Riesling, Sparkling Rosé and Pinot Noir.

History

From boardroom to vineyard

After more than two decades in large companies, Monika Eichner and Markus Bonsels turned fully to wine in 2017. Markus left after 25 years to study viticulture and oenology — and just six years on, the Eichelmann guide awarded the estate 4 out of 5 stars.

The People

Monika Eichner & Markus Bonsels

Two career-changers by conviction, crafting aromatic top wines from old Hallgarten sites — and showing with “Deserteur” that premium can be alcohol-free, too.

Premium Riesling — just without the alcohol.

Terroir

Old sites in Hallgarten

Hallgarten belongs to Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau, one of Germany’s great Riesling regions. Old vines on south-facing slopes give the aromatic, mineral fruit that “Deserteur” carries even without alcohol.

The Craft

How “Deserteur” is made

It starts with a complete Rheingau Riesling.

01

100% Riesling

Grapes from old Hallgarten sites, carefully made.

02

Gentle de-alcoholisation

The alcohol is removed with care — fruit and minerality remain.

03

Bibo Runge dosage

A small dosage rounds off the alcohol-free wine harmoniously.

At the Table

How to serve it

The Riesling shines with fish and Asian cuisine; the Sparkling Riesling and Rosé make an elegant aperitif; the Pinot Noir suits white meat and mushroom dishes.
